Displaying the SA National Flag Correctly

• The red band should always be on top when hoisted horizontally.
• When displayed vertically, the red band must be on the left when facing the flag.
•  The V-shape (green Y) must always point toward the flagpole when hoisted.

When and Where to Fly the Flag

• It can be flown daily at government buildings, schools, businesses, and homes.
• Should be hoisted at sunrise and lowered at sunset unless properly illuminated at night.
• During national days or memorials, it is flown at half-mast as a sign of respect.

Respectful Handling of the SA Flag

• Never let the flag touch the ground.
• When lowering the flag, fold it neatly and store it properly.
• A damaged or faded flag should be disposed of respectfully (burned in a dignified manner).
